Durer's Knots

A card game based on Durer's famous knot engravings

Imagine if Durer and Leonardo invented a card deck based on their celebrated knot engravings, if each of the famous knots was in fact an Ace for a suit in a lost 6-suits pack of cards. Durer's Knot's realises that idea, with the suits of Hearts, Tablets, Coins, Spots, Shields, and Stars. The 9 of each suit is the ace, called the Altesse, and Leonardo's insparational knot is the Joker. We have invented a variant of the then-popular game of Bassette, called Altesse, to play with the deck.
